Cultural space for your seminar in Le Mans

A fascinating story In the beginning… Having moved to Le Mans, Amédée Bollée created the first “modern” automobile in 1873. The success of the “Obéissante” was universal, and sealed the destiny of Sarthe and Le Mans. From 1923 with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Le Mans became a mythical place for the automobile. The Automobile Club Ouest, the department and local collectors then created an Automobile Museum in 1961. Initially located within the circuit itself, near the village, it underwent many improvements over the years, and moved in 1991 near the Circuit's main entrance. The biggest brands Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Ford, Porsche, Matra, Audi… all the big names are represented there by their legendary models which immerse the visitor in the greatest endurance race in the world. 300m² of temporary exhibitions complete this themed tour.

Discover for yourself the infrastructures of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Circuit. From the Dunlop footbridge to the village, take a stroll through 9 must-see points where the hearts of millions of visitors and viewers beat every year.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The circuit can be visited freely between 10 a.m. and 18 p.m. A leaflet and an audio guide are given to you at the Museum reception, to accompany you throughout your visit.

Accompanied by a tour guide, enter the world of the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit as you have never visited it before! With family, friends, enthusiasts or not, take a look behind the scenes at one of the most legendary races in the world.

TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS

On the occasion of the release of the film "Ford v Ferrari", the Automobile Club de l'Ouest presents its new exhibition "Le Mans 66" which will be held from October 21, 2019 to May 17, 2020 at the 24 Hours Museum of Mans.

This exhibition dedicated to the edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1966 as to the film "Ford V Ferrari", or "Le Mans 66" for the French version, will allow you to relive the formidable duel Ford / Ferrari, to discover or rediscover characters iconic such as the pilot Ken Miles or the ingenious Carroll Shelby, to visit behind the scenes of the film, from its production phase to its realization, including the creation of historical sets inspired by reality and the mythical universe of Le Mans and its circuit. To extend your immersion, you will be able to observe authentic vintage vehicles such as the Ford GT40 which took part in the Le Mans event, the costumes of the actors and the sets from the shoot.
